Sekinchan Development Holding and Persatuan Kebajikan Nelayan dan Peniaga Ikan Sekinchan has initiated and proposed to Selangor State Government to undertake the responsibility to upgrade and maintain the coastal seabed in order that local fishing boats will be able to enter and exit Sungai Sekinchan at anytime; and in the same time to build a new fish collection centre and complex at seafront area for the purpose of easing congestion in the inner land water canal.
In order to tackle the current seabed corrosion and congestion issue at the current fish collection jetty, Sekinchan Development Holding has proposed together with all the related parties for a total of 265 acres of sea and land area for the highlighted project. This could lead to a cost saving by the state government of more than hundreds of millions Malaysia Ringgit for the sustainability cause of Sekinchan fishing sector. This project has been highlighted as one of the Rancangan Selangor (RS-1) for the development of Sabak Bernam.
